#4: The Buddhist Pilgrimage

Research Assignment • If you could only visit two Buddhist pilgrimage sites, which ones would they be and why? Please provide the name of the site, the country, and the city name.

Please provide a picture of each. Hand drawn sketch or computer copy is OK. If I could visit only two Buddhist pilgrimage sites, I would visit Lumbini and Bodh Gaya. I would visit these two sites as they are the beginning and ending of the Buddha's journey. Lumbini is the birthplace Sidhartha and Bodh Gaya is the place he achieved enlightenment.

Bodh Gaya is a religious site and place of pilgrimage associated with the Mahabodhi Temple Complex in Gaya district in the Indian state of Bihar.

Lumbini

Lumbinī is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Rupandehi District of Nepal.

• Choose a pilgrimage site and script what you would say if you were a tour guide describing it to a group of tourists who knew nothing about the Buddha, or his teachings.
