#3: The Dhammapada (The Buddha's Path to Wisdom)
1) What does the Buddha say about using hatred to cure hatred?
Hatred is never appeased by hatred in this world. By non-hatred alone is hatred appeased. This is a law eternal. 2) What does the Buddha say about passion (emotion)?
The doer of good rejoices here and hereafter; he rejoices in both the worlds. He rejoices and exults, recollecting his own pure deeds. 3) If you recite holy prayers but do not live by them what is the result?
Much though he recites the sacred texts, but acts not accordingly, that heedless man is like a cowherd who only counts the cows of others — he does not partake of the blessings of the holy life. 4) If a person speaks or acts with an impure mind what is the result?
Much though he recites the sacred texts, but acts not accordingly, that heedless man is like a cowherd who only counts the cows of others — he does not partake of the blessings of the holy life.
