#5: An Outline of Christianity
Constantine was the first emperor to accept Christians and to allow Christianity to develop
Theodosius made Christianity the state religion in the Roman Empire
The Roman Empire shaped the western world as opposed to China and Japan, etc.
Nicene Creed was when bishops from all over came together to decide on one definition of what it meant to be a Christian
The four fathers of Christianity ‘edited’ the bible
The church was designed by the Roman Empire
Roman empire > Christianity > Nicene Creed, Constantine, Theodosius 455 > The Four Fathers 1500
The Bible was meant to teach morality
Martine Luther (1500)
He wrote down a list of 95 things that was wrong with the church
With the backlash from the church, the prince of Germany protected Martin Luther from the church
Martin Luther later then made his own versions of the Christian church, the Roman Catholics and the Protestants
The difference between the two is that the Roman Catholics are led by the Pope and the Protestants don’t really have a ‘leader’
As well the Protestants are made up of many different religions such as:
Baptist
United
Calumnious
The main difference between the Catholics and Protestants is that to be a Catholic you must go to church to be connected to God and have a relationship with him, however, to be a Protestant you don’t need to go to church to have a relationship with God, the connection comes from the person themselves
Christianity itself starts with the Resurrection
The Bible was just meant to be a story to provide comfort to people
